This patented test promises to be a very attractive alternative to wet chemical chlorine dioxide tests for several reasons. A mechanical reader is NOT required; the unique indicator is reactive only to chlorine dioxide; and accurate results are achieved in under one minute. CHEMets는 저위농도에서 중위급농도의 비색계 분석을 위한 단위량 시약 투입 및 샘플링 방법을 쓰고 있다. 각 CHEMets는 7mm 경의 유리앰플이며 뾰죽하고 미리 금을낸 끝을 갖고 있다. 색조발현 시약은 진공상태의 앰플안에 넣어 봉해 있다. 사용자가 시료속에 앰플을 넣어 뾰죽한 끝을 꺾으면 자동적으로 진공으로 인하여 시료는 안으로 끌어들여진다. 순식간에 완전히 가득차고 약간의 불활성개스 기포가 남을 뿐이다. 시료와 시약은 앰플을 몇번 기울여서 안에든 기포가 끝에서 끝으로 왔다갔다하게 하면 혼합된다. 색조발현을 위해 지정된 시간(보통 2분 또는 그 미만)경과 후 분석자는 킷트로 되어나온 표준 비색을 사용하여 정량한다. 고농도에서 저농도 범위의 시험결과는 각각 다른 두가지의 표준비색을 사용하여 정량할 수 있다. 농도가 1-2ppm을 초과하지 않을때에는 원통형 표준비색을 사용한다. 시험한 앰플을 중앙칸에 놓고 표준비색을 바닥쪽에서 관찰한다. 가운데 놓인 앰플과 이를 둘러싼 여덟개의 표준비색과 색상 비교를 한다. 대략 1ppm이상의 고농도인때는 납작한 9개의 액체색상 견본을 사용하여 정량한다. 내용물이 든 앰플을 색상견본 사이로 바꿔 놓아가며 색상이 잘 맞는 것을 찾을때까지 비교한다. 비교가 끝나면 사용한 앰플은 버린다. CHEMet 킷트는 필요한 표준비색과 앰플 보충액(필요한 경우에만)스냅컵 및 사용설명서가 있어 30회 시험을 할 수 있다. 따로 30개의 앰플이 든 보충팩도 구입할 수 있다.
